BestLight helps you capture moments of gratitude, effort, growth, and wins,
and reflect on them when you need encouragement.
Our Commitment to Your Privacy:
BestLight is designed for personal reflection. We do not sell your data,
we do not use your private entries for advertising, and we do not share
your personal information with third parties except as required to operate
the App or comply with the law.
This Privacy Policy explains how BestLight (“BestLight”, “we”, “us”) collects,
uses, and shares information when you use the BestLight mobile application
(the “App”). “Personal information” means information that identifies,
relates to, or could reasonably be linked to you.
Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
1) Account Information

User ID and account settings (used to identify your account
and store your preferences).

Email address (used for account creation and login via
Supabase Authentication).

OAuth login information (if you choose to sign in using a
trusted service provider, we receive a token/identifier needed to authenticate
you; we do not receive your third-party password).
2) Your Private Entries

Memory/journal entries you create in the App. These entries
are intended for your personal use and are visible only to you when you are
signed in.

Your entries are private by design.
They are not publicly visible, are not shared with other users
(unless you intentionally choose to share content outside the App using the built-in Share feature),
and are not used for advertising, profiling, or data analysis.
3) Notifications and Preferences

Notification preferences (for example, whether you opt in
to daily reminders). These preferences may be stored locally on your device
(e.g., using AsyncStorage).

Push notification tokens (if you enable notifications, your
device generates a token used to deliver notifications to your device).
4) Technical and Diagnostic Information

Basic technical information such as app version, device/OS
type, and approximate timestamps, which may be collected automatically for
reliability and troubleshooting.

Crash/error logs related to App performance and Supabase
Edge Function execution (to help diagnose and fix issues).
Analytics and Advertising:
We do not use advertising SDKs.
We do not sell data.
We do not track you across other apps or websites.
How We Use Your Information
We use information to:
- Provide and operate the App (including creating and managing your account).
- Store and display your private entries to you when you are signed in.
- Send optional reminders if you enable notifications.
- Maintain App security, detect and prevent abuse, and troubleshoot technical issues.
- Process subscriptions and confirm subscription status (if you subscribe).
AI-Powered Features (Optional)
BestLight offers optional AI-powered features such as smart tagging,
reflection rewriting, and supportive responses. If enabled, the text
you enter may be securely transmitted to OpenAI to generate the requested output.
We do not use your private entries to train our own AI models.
OpenAI processes this information solely to provide the requested feature.
You can disable AI-powered features at any time in the App settings.
How We Share Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
We only use trusted infrastructure providers to run the App.
These providers process data on our behalf and do not use it
for their own marketing purposes.

Supabase (authentication and database storage for your account
and your private entries).

Expo (App delivery/updates and push notification infrastructure).

RevenueCat (subscription management). RevenueCat may process a
user identifier and subscription status to provide subscription functionality.
RevenueCat does not receive your private entry content. iOS users: In the event
of a refund request, RevenueCat may automatically submit only your consumption
data to Apple to handle the refund decision equitably.

OpenAI (AI processing for optional smart-tagging,
reflection rewriting, and supportive responses). Entry data is only shared once
to be processed for the app's use, and only when each feature is enabled in the
user's settings.
We may disclose information only if required to do so by law,
such as in response to a valid legal request from a court or government authority.
What We Do Not Do
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not display third-party ads.
- We do not use your journal entries to train AI models.
- We do not make your entries public.
- We do not build advertising profiles about you.
- We do not use automated decision-making or profiling
that produces legal or significant effects about you.
Push Notifications
Push notifications are optional. If you opt in, we use a device token to deliver
notifications. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings.
Data Storage, Retention, and Deletion

Storage: Your account information and private entries are stored
in Supabase. Data is stored using reputable cloud infrastructure providers that
implement industry-standard security safeguards. Some preferences may be stored locally on
your device.

Retention: We keep your information for as long as your account
is active or as needed to provide the App.

Account deletion: If you delete your account, we permanently delete
your data associated with that account (including private entries) within a reasonable
period, subject to limited legal and operational requirements. Deletion is permanent
and cannot be undone. Once deleted, your private entries cannot be recovered.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect
information. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot
guarantee absolute security.
Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your information.
You can delete your account within the App (if available) or by contacting us at
help@bestlight.com.
Children’s Privacy
BestLight is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal
information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal
information to us, please contact us at help@bestlight.com
so we can take appropriate action.
If you are a parent or guardian and you believe your child has provided information to us,
you may contact us to request deletion.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make changes, we will update the
“Last updated” date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after changes
means you accept the updated policy.
